In 1925, Calvin Zahn started a gas station business with mechanical on the corner of Liberty and Ann St. in the city of Ann Arbor. The building still stands to this day. Over the years, Cal expanded his business to include autobody repair in a building behind the gas station. In the 1960's, the city of Ann Arbor decided to put a parking lot in where Cal had expanded and, consequently, in 1967 Cal moved Zahn's Auto Service to 723 S. Wagner Rd. In the late 1970's, Cal's staff was retiring and with his eyesight failing Cal sold the business and building to Tom Niswonger, a local businessperson, in 1979.

Tom hired Ken Drinkard in 1980 to manage Zahn's Auto Service. In 1993, Ken took ownership of the business and changed the name to Zahn's Autobody, Inc. A few years later, he took ownership of the building.

In 2006, Ken acquired part of A2's business and its building located next door at 745 S Wagner Rd. Acquired was the detailing, accessory and mechanical portion of A2 Auto's business and it was named A2 Auto Plus. A2 Auto's owner retained the auto glass portion of its business and named it A2 Auto Glass.
